Ethics Advocacy

The Advocacy area of St James Ethics Centre seeks to promote and encourage thought and discussion on the ethical dimension of life and how it relates to specific issues of immediate interest and concern in daily life.

We encourage active discussion amongst the widest possible audience by engaging in the following activities, amongst many others:

  • Commenting in the media on the ethical dimension of current issues when the Ethics Centre's opinion is sought.
  • Serving on boards and committees established within the community, corporate and public sectors, as well as the professions. These are listed in the Centre's most recent Annual Report.
  • Publishing Living Ethics, our quarterly newsletter, which serves as a forum for the discussion of applied ethics and current ethical issues.
  • Publishing and maintaining content on www.ethics.org.au to stimulate thought and debate about ethical issues and to help promote the use of ethics in daily life.
  • Hosting events where ethical issues are discussed.
  • Publishing ethics-related lectures, symposia and other documents as organised by the Centre.
  • Speaking at events organised by other organisations.
  • Undertaking or participating in various ethics-related projects.
