Ethics Consulting:

Ethical Diagnosis & Inquiries (product sheet)

Ethical Diagnosis:

St James Ethics Centre assists an organisation, profession, team, group or board to understand the gap between its espoused and lived values principles.

At one level, Ethics Consulting services include focus groups and surveys aimed at testing the internal understanding of the organisation's ethical stance: values and principles. At a deeper level services involve a full analysis of the organisation's ethics documents, to elicit the key ethical components, followed by individual interviews, focus groups and surveys to research the ‘gaps’ and determine their meaning and implications.

Organisational Character & Culture Analysis

Our flagship program, the Organisational Character and Culture Analysis (OCCA), provides the most extensive diagnosis and further extends the above ‘gap analysis’. OCCA programs may also include a stakeholder audit; an understanding of the related conscious and unconscious systems as well as the dynamics operating within an organisation's culture; a diagnosis regarding the ‘common’ ethical decision-making strengths and weaknesses as well as an exploration of an organisation's contribution to society.

Ethical Diagnosis Clients

Recent Ethics Consulting clients have included professional institutes, not-for-profit organisations, divisions of the public sector as well as Australian and international corporate businesses.

Due to the nature of our work, we are not at liberty to mention clients by name unless the client has publicly disclosed working with the Ethics Centre or has given us permission to make public our work with them.

Ethical Inquiries:

Our services typically relate to major independent inquiries which have been brought about by public awareness and pressure.

Ethical Inquiries Clients

Due to the nature of our work, we are not at liberty to mention clients by name unless the client has publicly disclosed working with St James Ethics Centre or has given us permission to make public our work with them.

One project in the public domain was our work with the University of New South Wales, entitled External Independent Review of UNSW Policies and Procedures.

Another project in the public domain was our work with the University of Newcastle. St James Ethics Centre was engaged to conduct an enquiry into the University's plagiarism policies, procedures and management controls. A description of the project as well as a copy of our final report is available on the University's website.
