Corporate Responsibility Index

Corporate Responsibility Index logo. The Corporate Responsibility Index (CRI) is a leading business management and benchmarking tool that enables companies to effectively measure, monitor, report and improve their impacts on society and the environment. The framework for the CRI was developed by Business in the Community (BITC) in the UK in 2002 in consultation with business.

St James Ethics Centre has been the exclusive licensee of the CRI for seven years since its launch in Australia and New Zealand in 2003 – ensuring integrity in the tool’s development and implementation. In 2010 following St James Ethics Centre’s review of its Responsible Business Practice project elements it was decided not to renew the CRI licence.

On 27 September 2010, the 2011 Corporate Responsibility Index was launched by BITC, in cooperation with the Centre, as a Global Index run by BITC directly from the UK for all participating UK, Australian and New Zealand companies. BITC also offers companies a private confidential benchmarking service that is open for participation at any time throughout the year.
