Hello Ethics Centre readers. I am doing some research for an article and just wanted to get a beat on what you think about moral obligation? In short and quite simply, do we humans have a moral obligation to help others in need? Particularly those in other parts of the world with little impact to our own well being (it's a bit of a different question than whether its good to help those in your own city).

I am curious what you think.

I haven't read your links but in saying this to answer your question briefly on 'moral obligation' - why should it be an 'obligation'.

It should be within all of us to help our fellow human when needed.

All too often we hear or see people in need and the attitude can be '... but I don't want to get involved'.

Maybe it's time we thought of ourselves in the shoes of those in need.
