arry,

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I always wonder, when things aren't perfect at home, how much of trashing other peoples situation, is really, envy or a defense mechanism to make them feel better about their own less than perfect situation.

So... when you run out of arguments start attempting to discredit the individual making the arguments?

Great work kookaburra. bravo. very impressive. One of the oldest tricks in the 'how to argue dirty' handbook.

I support, evolution not revolution in health care and believe our government is doing a reasonable job with an extremely difficult issue.

And it is my observation that the health care system in the USA is based upon very different premise than in Australia as others have pointed out. Each country should make its own decisions based upon it's society's own value system (ethics).

The USA is currently reviewing its health care system and there is a lot of debate which shows it is timely and people care about the outcome strongly. That is a positive step.

But are you Xenophobic enough to call it rubbish? Or are you so Xenophobic as to think you know better as for what is best for them? Or are you content to let them resolve what is best for them without passing judgement?

arry,

The government is elected by the people and accountable.

Were you permitted to vote for Howard?

How many of the employees of the governemnt stand for election? Do government services cease when the parliament changes hands? How are these employees held accountable to the electorate. The truth is they aren't they have been put in place by politicians and aren't accountable to the people.

I don't understand the reason for your questions but .... I have not called the US health care system rubbish, nor have I stated what is best for them and I am certainly content to let the US resolve it's own health care system, unless such a resolution seriously impacts me. As I do not live in the US, this is unlikely.

I would also repeat that there is no one right or wrong answer, or any ideal solution to health care (or anything). Each system has its strengths and lesser strengths which make any such health care system better for some and not so good for others. Governments have a very difficult task to try to optimise their system and it must constantly evolve as the requirements and expectations change over time.

Then you can honestly answer the questions in the negative.

hi Kookaburra, I am not "Xenophobic enough" about the issue or questions you raised. If I called the US health care system negative, it would be for other reasons, not Xenophobia. But I didn't. You questioned my xenophobias and your questions appeared to imply that to my beliefs on this issue were linked to any xenophobias I may have. I found that curious so was very careful in the wording of my answers. I stand by my answers as I wrote them.
