So I decided to finally watch the movie Saw. Just the first part. I just can't be bothered to watch the sequals. Is this what modern horror is supposed to look like? I wasn't scared at all. It was merely disgusting.

So I ask all of you: for what kind of people is this franchise being made? I didn't enjoy it at all, and neither did any of my friends. Sure, they told me it was so disgusting and exaggerated at times that it was almost laughable, but that isn't exactly the purpose of these movies. Right?

So again: for who is this being made?

The standard of the movie probably has more to do with the producers' lack of respect for their audience than anything.
There needs to be a build up of suspense in a horror movie to make it scary and if this does not happen its most likely because the producers think it is enough to just chuck blood and gore around to satisfy people.

This was made for the producers in an attempt to increase their profile so they could make bigger and better (sic) productions. The producers stated as much in an early interview.

To gain attention the producers tried to challenge a few basic human traits as fiercely as possible (survival, pain etc.) in to become notorious.

I haven't watched it, so I am speaking based only on a couple of reviews. I believe such movies do not offer me anything I need or want and I do not feel I must watch it to make that decision. I am happy to risk not seeing the movie if I am incorrect!

A follow on question would be: What kind of people enjoy or gain value watching these sort of movies?
