Perhaps it's because I don't have a television that I depend on print media.

I have one word for you: radio!

In general news coverage and analysis is much better than television (perhaps because covering is not distorted by the desire to concentrate on stories which happen to have visually arresting footage) and less driven than newspapers by the desire to target a particular market segment to gratify advertisers.

I get most of my news from the radio, supplemented by online sources and newspapers in that order. I only look at the TV news when I feel like a bit of visually arresting footage.

I am 69-years old. When I was about seven, my grandfather told me you had to read both newspapers every day. Back then, cities had at least two papers. One was unabashadly liberal and the other quite conservative. In our city, the conservative paper hired only Democrats and the liberal paper hired only Republicans. They were biased and made no apologies. My grandfather explained that they both twist what they were reporting to meet their biases and that if you read both you had some chance of discovering what had really happened.

What's different now is the slimy bastards lie. They aren't unabashadly liberal or conservative. They want to pretend they're unbiased and even handed and they're simply lying. They have no shame. I put most newspapers and television networks in the same category of shameless hustlers.

Of course, I might be biased.

I definitely Agree with you.. what's different now is the slimy bastards lie!!
