No one is suggesting that we ban inflammable liquids but that those who would limit the access of children to supervized use of a non-lethal (super) toy which access will teach them safety etc., but who cavail at the restriction of volatile substances which can and are used by terrorists and murderers, are just not 'fair dinkum'.

Their object is control without personal inconvenience, moreover control for control's sake.

PS. The 'bullet powered car' is mechanically feasible but the economics are a stumbling block. There are a number of machines that can be adapted to rotary motion that are 'bullet' powered.

Oh, I’m with you there. The rationale given for restricting paintball is silly, with or without any comparison to diesel.

The only legitimate reason for restricting paintball is the (limited) inherent danger of the activity itself. The guns uses certainly aren’t “high-powered weapons” in the sense that that phrase normally has, but they are capable of inflicting some degree of injury, and there are safe and unsafe ways to handle and use them. It’s reasonable to restrict paintball to people who re big enough and old enough to sustain the degree of injury that they risk by participating, and who can be expected to have enough responsibility to use the guns safely, rather than unsafely. I wouldn’t quarrel with twelve as an age limit.

I seriously doubt that there is much evidence that teenagers who play paintball will develop an irresistible urge to own and use high-powered assault rifles in later life, or that allowing 12-year olds to play paintball is the slippery slope to letting them have their own bazookas.

Just another thing that the 'spoil sports' don't seem to notice and seemingly have no problems with kids being instructed in their use.

Range: some 300 metres.
Rate of fire: Faster than many single shot firearms.

Genuine lethal weapons.
