I'll own upt to living in WA, although that's not my country of birth

In the U.S. we tend to move...a lot. I was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in the U.S. My family moved to Florida and then Kentucky. Then I left home and lived in Texas, Indiana, Alaska, and Wyoming when I was doing my military service. Then I settled in Colorado where I raised my kids. Then I moved to Mexico. My daughter moved to Virginia. My son lived all over the world in the military and now lives in Texas.

I was just about to start a post on where I am now, however that can wait a bit.

I was born in Auburn (suburb of Sydney), NSW as my father, who was a blacksmith on the railway, was given the option of a posting to Moree (western NSW) or Sydney. Mother decided.

I spent a bit of time in the Northern Territory before joining the Army where I served in Victoria as well as overseas postings before settling down in NSW.
Then I lived in Ireland, came back to NSW and then to India where I've never officially lived but have had some long holidays.

I'm typing this from our room in a monastery which overlooks a serene and somewhat untidy garden as the fallen coconuts are in heaps as are the drying husks and fronds. The only noise is from the fan and from a particularly noisy crow; the local peahens have gone into the banana plantation having done their daily duty of waking everyone up at 4.00 AM.

The monastery is in Trichy in Tamil Nadu State. Everywhere is lush, and green is the predominant colour and the mosquitos whilst active are not as vicious as the ones that I'm used to.

The food is very, very good and not expensive and I suspect that we are all putting on weight. My favourite local tipple is coconut milk straight from the nut. I've indulged in a few coffees as well, Tamil Nadu is renowned for its coffee and tea is not always available.

Tomorrow we fly to Chenni (aka Madras), change planes, and back to Bombay; where we're attending a friend's wedding. I have been talked into a new suit for the occassion (I dislike suits) but have won the concession of an 'Indian' collar, so no tie.

Born and raised in New Jersey, USA. Retired to near Jacksonville, Florida, where my wife and I live with two dogs and two flocks of chickens All of my close family lives near Jacksonville except for one niece in Boulder, Colorado.
