There might be a God. There may be many Gods. There may be unexplainable Deities. Or there may be nothing and we simply come from a massive explosion 5 billion years ago, and slowly formed from atoms bonding to form elements, then creating planets, stars, and lastly life. There is one thing, no matter what you belief, you cannot argue. We do not know what was the 'cause' of our being, and the chances we will ever no are so slim I am more likely to win the lottery 1000 times in a row, then get killed by a piano falling from a window on my way to collect my winnings. Stupid analogy I know, but never the less makes a reasonable point.
It has been said for many years now only two things in life are certain. Death & Taxes. Slightly outdated now however. There is certainty or war, disorder, civil unrest, and religion; to name just a few.
Muslims fight with Christians, Jew argue with Muslims, the Chinese government persecute the Buddhist monks of Tibet and so on, and all this is happening today, as it has done for many, many years.
The point I am about to arrive at is that along with certainty of death and taxes, there is a certainty or religious unrest, and religion vs Science. This is something that has happened, continually since religion began!
Re visiting my original point, nobody can be certain of what we are here for, who or what put us here and why. Not even the cleverest scientist or the wisest religious leaders. Science gives us answers to space travel, heart transplants and understanding cognitive behaviour, but cannot explain why people have such strong believes in God/s that they are willing to go against 'commandments' to love thy neighbour etc. Religion claims to give answers for what science cannot. It apportions blame in some respect, whether it be to politicians or gays for example.
There is so much fighting in the world, much masquerades as war for land, power or oil, but when broken down to the foundations, there is almost certainly religious divides be it Islam & Judaism or Catholic & Protestant!
To conclude, why is religion to blame so much for war, unrest, lack of civility? Are the key messages of all (maybe not satanism) not to 'love thy neighbour' and 'of peace' ? Yet every body is flawed. Religious leaders think they and their religion is superior to another. And boom, war again. It will continue as long as people and religion are prominent on this earth and will never cease. It is a sad thought, but a short statement to end is fitting...
All this war, this death, this famine, neglect and hatred, for speculation, beliefs and opinions!
