Did anyone watch the premier of the new series on Ch. 7?
The much advertized Wild Boys ?

I wonder at the ethics of portraying Australian pioneers and our history in the way that it is done in this show?
There was also a bit of defying of the laws of physics.

It was on for an hour, minus ad time, and it did take me back to the time of childhood, for, as was remarked on another forum, it was reminisent of the lower 'B' grade '. . . Saturday arvo Western serials. . .' at the local picture show.

Probably a later episode will show the heroine being tied to the railway track.

I didn't watch it, a look at the picture on the front my TV guide was enough to convince me it wasn't going to be authentic. My son who watched it confirmed this impression. He said the men were " like metrosexuals".

It was set much later but the movie Red Dog was very authentic, and I can vouch for it because I remember those days in West Australia myself!

Hi.

I didn't watch it, or any of the subsiquent epesodes, give me deadwood, I am sure it is more accurate as far as cleanlyness and language goes.

These shows always seem to illistrate late 20th and 21st centuary attidudes, views, culture and sensabilities etc, always clean, much better educated then most would have been, and language used was nothing like the language used then.

I am old enough to have known two veterans of the American Civil War, when I was going to school, and numerous people of the same age and although the men could cuss out in the paddocks, one never heard a misplaced word when in the company of females. So they were different to the characters in 'Deadwood' in that respect although I must admit that Saturday night was bath night. I often suffered by being pressed against the sweaty bossoms of black clad aunts and other middle aged female relatives. Summer time the men would often strip to the waist for a good wash after a day's work, and there were wash basins and jugs in all the bedrooms and we children would have the job of emptying them in the mornings, so people did wash more often than once a week.

I'd say that the language used in the 1860s was much the same as that which educated people use today.

However, unlike in most Australian TV period pieces, the pioneers had enough sense to block the gaps in the walls of buildings to keep out the wind and rain.

Some women are attracted to those seen as a 'challenge', some kind of project they can take on. Those girls think that they'll turn the wild boy around this time, because their love is special. It's actually some form of dependency based on some emptiness those girls have inside.
Some girls like bad boys because, deep down, they don't want to commit to a really loving, committed relationship. It may all be subconscious, but it happens.
it may just be that some girls prefer a complicated guy because their life path together may be more interesting. Working harder in a relationship also means working harder with ourselves
