The question raised is too broad and therefore, taking it literally, since not all asylum seekers seek asylum in Australia I have had to answer 'no'. I do believe however, that asylum seekers intercepted in Australian territorial waters or on Australian sovereign or controlled lands should be allowed to have their claim heard and decided by the authorities and courts (as applicable) on the Australian mainland, and in an efficient and expeditious manner.

Not only should they all be allowed 'processing' on the mainland but the apparent presumption that they are mostly queue jumpers or potential or actual terrorists should be discarded. Evidence shows that, in the main, these people are genuinely either fleeing persecution or simply seeking a better life. We should welcome and nurture them humanely. Most of us, or our ancestors came in basically the same way.
