The Ethics Forum is provided by St James Ethics Centre for the discussion and exploration of
ethics and associated topics. All are welcome to participate in the forum. However, note
that St James Ethics Centre does not necessarily support or share the views expressed by any individuals
in this forum.
You agree to abide by the principle that the Ethics Forum is a place to debate ideas and not to personally attack the individual/s voicing them. While debate in the Ethics Forum may from time to time become heated, making personal attacks against other members is not appropriate (and is a very poor way to debate an issue!). Posts that we deem to have crossed a line in this regard will be removed at our discretion. Seriously offensive posts or ongoing personal attacks despite being counselled against them may result in the member being banned from the Ethics Forum, also at our discretion.
You agree not to use this forum to post any material which is vulgar, defamatory, threatening, invading of others' privacy, sexually oriented, or in violation any laws in your own country or Australia.
You also agree that you will not post any copyrighted
material that is not owned by yourself or the owners of this forum unless permission is obtained from
the copyright owner or is otherwise acceptable in relation to copyright legislation.
By posting to this forum you are giving St James Ethics Centre permission to publish the content you write for this purpose on our Ethics Forum. You have no inherent right to have your content subsequently unpublished, however, we will consider such requests if there is a valid reason.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and
hold harmless this forum and their agents with respect to any claim based upon any post you may
make.
Although the content of messages posted are not the responsibility of St James Ethics Centre and the Centre has no obligation to moderate the Ethics Forum, the forum administrators reserve
the right to delete any message for any reason.
If you do find a post to be seriously
objectionable, please contact the Ethics Forum administrators by email or using the 'report post' link at the
top of each post. Please do not use this mechanism for trivial issues that can easily be ignored, debated in terms of ethics or easily resolved by having a civil discussion with the person/s involved. Complaints we deem to be trivial will generally be ignored.
St James Ethics Centre will not use any email address provided as part of your forum membership to
contact you other than as part of administration of the forum. The Centre will also not knowingly
pass on your contact details without your consent unless legally obliged to do so.
If you choose to reveal
your email address and other information in your forum profile so that it is visible to other members, note
that the Centre has no control over who sees these details or how they may use them. We strongly suggest you do not opt to reveal your email address to protect yourself from spam and scammers.
By registering and continuing to use the Ethics Forum you agree with and to abide by all of the
above rules and policies.
