What does Advocacy do?
The Ethics Centre's Advocacy service seeks to promote and encourage thought and discussion on the ethical dimension of life and how it relates to specific issues of immediate interest and concern in daily life.
We encourage active discussion amongst the widest possible audience by engaging in the following activities, amongst many others:
- Writing articles for and commenting in the media
- Speaking at and hosting occasional events
- Serving on Boards and Committees
- Publishing a newsletter, Living Ethics, and other publications
- Publishing and maintaining this website

Will you provide a speaker for my event?
While Ethics Centre staff do speak at events, we do not necessarily participate in all events we are invited to. Our decisions about events are based on the capacity of the Centre and the nature of the event.
Please contact us to discuss your requirements and the event details.
Also note that our Ethics Consulting service undertakes speaking events.
Will someone from the Ethics Centre provide interviews or comments to journalists?
In most instances, yes. Please contact us online or telephone the Centre on +61 (0)2 9299 9566 to make arrangements.
How do I subscribe to your newsletter?
Members of St James Ethics Centre receive four issues of Living Ethics per annum. Being a member not only allows you to receive Living Ethics, but it also helps to support the work of the Ethics Centre. Learn more about why our work matters.
However, we do also have subscriptions only to Living Ethics available.
Does St James Ethics Centre hold regular events?
Currently the Ethics Centre does not organise or host regular ethics-related events. We rely on funding being made available for such events and to have capacity to undertake the work. If you are interested in sponsoring an event, please contact us.

You can also find out about general ethics-related events organised by others.
Can I contribute to your publications?
Many of the articles published in our newsletter, Living Ethics, are contributed by external contributors. If you are interested in contributing an article, please contact us.
Can I re-publish one of your articles in my publication?
Generally, yes, provided you agree to credit St James Ethics Centre and the author - and ideally provide a link to www.ethics.org.au.
However, please contact us to discuss the details of your request so we can make a decision.
Can I re-publish one of your Ethics Cartoons?
Copyright of our Ethics Cartoons resides with the illustrator, Marc van de Griendt. Please contact him via www.havock.co.uk to discuss your request.
If you do have permission to re-publish one of these illustrations, we would be most grateful if you could credit that it was originally published by St James Ethics Centre and provide a link to www.ethics.org.au.
